‘No, I totally agree with you. Preparation H does feel good… on the hole.’

So Producer Scott dropped by for some serious photoshop training. I totally dig when someone is learning something new and not only absorbs it instantly, but immediately starts asking a million and a half questions, building on what they’ve already learned. I’ve been using this program for about a decade, and I still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of it, its that deep.

So for two and a half hours we went back and forth, figuring out what he wanted to learn, applying it in a practical manner, and then retiring with a good round of Half Life 2. Afterwards we dropped in on the Director, down at the pub and met with a couple of other team members of Laurel Films. Looks like I’m joining the shoot on Labor Day weekend, as gopher, tech advisory, and general MacGuyver.

I also squeezed in a few hours of texture making, hopefully that’ll please the mod team in Germany for a bit, I’ve been remiss in keeping up with all the developments on the game front, and now have a bit of catchup to do.

Photo note: the image below was from a small alley by Sheridan Square, I found this place, it didn’t look like a residence, and had no sign to indicate it was a business, but it did have this huge evil rabbit with glowing red eyes in the window…

The people of England will permit anything - except cruelty to horses and a rise in the price of beer.

Well, I wrote Lawyer Mum back, felt good, like finding an old friend. As for what the future may portend, who knows? But its good to at least stay in contact. Like ending one chapter and beginning another.

I’m off in a bit to buy some blank DVDs. The Director and I hung out, working on getting ‘The Look Away Life’ burned to send to Cinequest, and hopefully further our advancing of fame and fortune. We had spent too many hours working on coaxing his computer to burn them (with little success) and trying to determine how best to fix his broken toilet (hopefully with a bit more success). The Director also gave me some samples of clothing styles and hair styles for the final animation for ‘Sovereignty’, and if I get some time, I’ll squeeze some sketches in.

I’m also doing a bit of photoshop tutoring, with the producer of ‘Sovereignty’. I charge in beer, and I teach by making them do all the work, what could be better?

In the ongoing Battle o’ the Sexes - women DO have it easier- as evidenced here. We’re doomed.

Back into the fray.

More work on refining the animatic - new sketches for the characters will have to be done. I’ve gotten great responses to the Laurel Films logo, BUT what I didn’t realize is that the lens flare that The Director had asked for ended up mimicking the one on the Lucasfilm logo. Ooops. Just remember what they say about imitation.

Tonight creative project is courtesy of the German team, seems my texture artist work is not quite finished, and they are begging for genetically - modified textures, something cyborg-ish. So, I get to go to the supermarket and buy all sorts of weird organ meat and mash it together with circuit boards and wires, to photograph and make it look all sci-fi-like.

It should be fun.

In a post World Cup hang out with The Director, I learned that our location is set for the Sovereignty shoot, and we may very well be shooting film, and at the end of next month. Which means I’ll have to crank full time on the animation if it has any hope of being finished by the time we head into post.
