Sellin’ Like Hotcakes

Posted in Art at 2:27 am by Fletcher

I am digging the ability to sell my work online, and it is a source of amazement just how much it is in demand.

I shoulda done this years ago.

Perhaps it is the Christmas season, perhaps it is since I got off my butt and did something about it. Not too long ago, I spoke with Capt. Ron at the ‘Hitman’ premiere, and he told me, “you know, you’re selling your stuff far under value to what it’s worth.”

Bless the man; he’s probably right - but then I’ve never thought art should be something that can only be obtained with gobs of money. Whether its film, a painting, a novel - everyone should have the ability to have a item that they think is beautiful, an objet d’ art to ponder and contemplate - and not have to break the bank to posess it.

Me, I just relish the chance to create it.

Since my last post…

The Christmas season has hit with full force.

I started a collaborative project to help celebrate said season.

And we had the ‘Sovereignty’ Premiere party / Fundraiser.

It. was. freakin’. awesome.

Premiere Party

The best part was seeing just what we are about to unleash on the world. Having been so involved with the edit, I had gotten used to the jokes, numbed to the poignancy, and it was refreshing to see the audience get so involved.

Even better was the animated discussions that followed as soon as the lights came up.

I cannot wait to see how this does in the festival circuit.

Trying to juggle out of town guests, interviews and gigs is never easy, and when you compound problems with the gigs and parental visits… well lets just say I must be incredibly patient or really good at burying my stress. And releasing it in completely inapropriate moments.

I’ve been gearing up for a visit from Shannon the Baker, who is visiting for multiple reasons, including her able assistance on the ‘Sovereignty’ shoot, which is capped this coming weekend with a premiere party - and words like ‘free food’ and ‘open bar’ will cause her to single-handedly take down biker gangs who foolishly wander into her path.

Add to this, gig I picked up for the Power’s Studio, filming a casting call for a commercial - which, joy of joys, was marred by our 1st snowfall of the season. Nothing like trying to film people acting like they’re on Zyprexa while worrying about how they’re gonna get back to Jersey.

On a brighter note - I got commissioned to do a painting. Turns out that the one I did for Sara has gotten a lot of accolades and in addition to trying to sell me to the art community down in Maryland, she wants me to do another city-scape for her husband…

Lastly, I’m gearing up for a dinner party for the Laurel Films Team. Since winter is in full effect, I think its time to brew up a batch of the ol’ Fletcher Chili, known to kill cows at a hundred paces, set off radiological alarms and cause small children to cry three blocks away…
