{"id":601,"date":"2020-04-28T11:53:52","date_gmt":"2020-04-28T11:53:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/?p=601"},"modified":"2020-04-28T11:53:52","modified_gmt":"2020-04-28T11:53:52","slug":"good-vibrations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/2020\/04\/28\/good-vibrations\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Vibrations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>So, in this time of quarantining, home schooling, feeding a constantly hungry family, cleaning a messy house that no one ever leaves, laundry, day drinking, naps and now being able to resume gaming (that I gave up for Lent) &#8211; I&#8217;ve found returning to game <em><strong>development <\/strong><\/em>to be difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its almost as if I have <strong>too <\/strong>much on my plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/20200405_154329-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-603\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/20200405_154329-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/20200405_154329-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/20200405_154329-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/20200405_154329-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/20200405_154329-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>But, hey &#8211; I&#8217;m getting a lot of painting done in the meantime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What got me slowly churning back towards dev work was the Unity Asset Store sale &#8211;  I saw an asset that controls haptic feedback for controllers, and thought to myself, &#8216;I&#8217;ve <em>always <\/em>wanted that in my game!&#8217; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I bought it &#8211; tried adding it my demo &#8211; had it turn into an abysmal failure and now I&#8217;m trying to get everything working in 2019. I&#8217;m feeling a huge need to upgrade my project to get the things I want working &#8211; including the aforementioned haptics, and a glow asset that seemed to just stop working in 2017.4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"752\" height=\"580\" src=\"https:\/\/fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/see-thru.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-605\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/see-thru.png 752w, https:\/\/www.fletcherstudios.net\/blog1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/see-thru-300x231.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 752px) 100vw, 752px\" \/><figcaption>ahh &#8211; the joys of figuring out what went wrong&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And, of course, the upgrade curve presents its own challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Text mesh Pro seems to require a shamanistic, voodoo-esque ceremony to get working after an upgrade. Thanks Unity, for packaging a converter app to make it work, guess it was easier than just &#8216;making it work automatically&#8217; when you upgrade your project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now I have to figure out how to have my TMP assets not have my Anima 2D assets show through them.
